WIEN and NCDMB Meet to Promote Gender Diversity in Energy Sector.

In a significant step towards enhancing gender diversity and inclusivity in Nigeria’s energy sector, the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) recently held a high-level meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Ogbe. Led by WIEN President Eyono Fatayi-Williams, the delegation engaged in productive discussions aimed at fostering a more inclusive environment for women in the energy industry.

The meeting, held at the NCDMB office in Abuja, provided a platform for WIEN to advocate for greater representation of women in various roles within the energy sector, including leadership positions, technical jobs, and entrepreneurial opportunities. WIEN stressed the importance of supportive policies and initiatives that empower women to excel and significantly contribute to the sector’s growth and development.

During the discussions, Engr. Felix Ogbe praised WIEN for its dedication to advancing gender diversity and pledged the NCDMB’s support for initiatives promoting women’s participation in the energy industry.

WIEN also presented its research findings and recommendations to the Executive Secretary, outlining actionable steps to overcome existing barriers and enhance opportunities for women in the energy sector.

In response, Engr. Felix Ogbe reiterated the NCDMB’s commitment to partnering with WIEN and other stakeholders to drive positive change in the energy sector. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing gender diversity and expressed optimism about the transformative impact of inclusive practices on the industry’s overall sustainability and competitiveness.

WIEN and the NCDMB pledged to work together to implement concrete measures that promote equal opportunities for women, ultimately contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development and global competitiveness in the energy arena.
