Collaboration Between Public and Private Sectors Essential to Achieving Energy Goals – Ekpo
Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between the public and private sectors to effectively realize the nation’s energy objectives. Speaking at the official presentation of the Gazettes on National Energy Policy and National Energy Master Plan by the Energy Commission of Nigeria at the PTDF auditorium in Abuja, Ekpo underscored the significance of joint efforts in achieving sustainable energy goals.
In a statement by Louis Ibah, the Minister’s Spokesman, Ekpo stressed that the responsibility of establishing a Nigeria with widespread access to affordable and ample energy cannot rest solely on the government. He urged both public and private sector stakeholders to unite, leveraging cooperation, creativity, and technology to address the challenges ahead.
Said Ekpo: “In order to achieve our energy goals, I implore our respected partners in the public and private sectors to collaborate with one another. To face the difficulties that lie ahead, let’s leverage the power of cooperation, creativity, and technology.”
Ekpo likened the journey towards a sustainable energy future to a marathon, emphasizing the need for enduring determination, innovative leadership, and steadfast commitment. He highlighted the pivotal role of energy in fostering social development, driving economic advancement, and safeguarding the environment, noting that present decisions would significantly impact future generations.
“Future generations will be greatly impacted by the choices that we make today. We can create a Nigeria where everyone has access to cheap, unlimited energy by working together,” he added.

The unveiling of the Gazettes was conducted by the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Ms. Olu Verheijen, who announced that the documents would undergo further public consultation. These Gazettes outline the government’s policy direction and delineate the diverse strategies required to attain the nation’s energy objectives.
