Kyeyune, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Majorwaves on the sidelines of the 8th Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Ex- hibition and Conference (SAIPEC), which held in Lagos, Nigeria, with the theme: “The Next Steps: Accel- erating African Content”.

“Uganda is expecting our first oil in 2025,” she said.

Currently, TotalEnergies in partner- ship with CNOOC, is constructing a 1,443km crude oil export pipeline that will transport the country’s crude oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani penin- sula near Tanga port in Tanzania.

Upon completion and full operationalization, the pipeline will have a peak capacity of 246,000 bbls/day. The first 296 km of EACOP are in Uganda, while the remaining 1147 km are in Tanzania.

With other players having gotten exploration licences, Kyeyune be- lieves Uganda is ripped for exploration and investment.

“We’re also constructing an export pipeline that’s longest seated pipe- line in the world – 1,483km,” she said.

“We’ve other players who have gotten exploration licences. So, Uganda is going to be ripped for exploration and for investment.”

Kyeyune, called on Nigerian oil and gas companies to take advantage of investment opportunities in Uganda, adding that registration of company is easy and they can repatriate their profits without any restric- tions.

She said: “We encourage them to come and invest in Uganda. We also encourage them to be partners with us.”

Kyeyune, said Uganda participates in SAIPEC to learn from Nigerian companies as well as learn new trends in the energy industry.

“This conference, we come for it, one to learn from the Nigerian com- panies, because Nigeria has gone so far ahead of us. And then to also learn from other nations the trends that are happening with Net-Zero- how the trends are moving, how we can have good energy mix as opposed to energy transition,” she stated.

She said the conference gives the country opportunity to market its oil blocks as it is looking for joint venture partners.
