TotalEnergies to Supply 1.1 Million Tons of LNG Annually to BOTAŞ for 10 Years
TotalEnergies has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Turkey’s state-owned oil and gas company, BOTAŞ, to supply 1.1 million tons of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) annually for a decade, beginning in 2027. This long-term deal reinforces TotalEnergies’ growing presence in the Turkish LNG market.
Natural gas is increasingly seen as a critical transition fuel, helping to offset the intermittency of renewable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions by replacing coal in electricity generation. Gregory Joffroy, Senior Vice President of LNG at TotalEnergies, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting that it strengthens their collaboration with BOTAŞ while securing stable long-term sales and mitigating exposure to volatile spot market gas prices.
