Tompolo Commends Mele Kyari for Revitalizing Nigeria’s Oil Industry
Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has lauded the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, for his transformative leadership in reviving Nigeria’s oil industry. The ex-agitator and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited issued the commendation through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo.
Tompolo highlighted Kyari’s accomplishments as he celebrated his 60th birthday, praising his efforts in restoring Nigeria’s refineries and addressing crude oil theft. The statement noted that Kyari’s leadership has facilitated the operational revival of the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries, marking a significant milestone in the country’s refining sector.
According to the statement, the Port Harcourt refinery resumed operations in November 2024 at 70% capacity, while the Warri refinery followed in December at 60% capacity, contributing to a combined refining capacity of 117,000 barrels per day.
“This revival not only enhances Nigeria’s energy security but also reduces dependency on imported refined products, signaling a transformative step forward,” Tompolo remarked.
Kyari was also credited with stabilizing crude oil production, which had dropped to 600,000 barrels per day before his intervention. Under his leadership, production has surged to 1.8 million barrels per day, with expectations of reaching 2 million barrels daily.
Tompolo praised Kyari’s innovative approach, including the engagement of non-state actors like Tantita Security Services in securing oil pipelines. These measures have curbed theft and sabotage, ensuring steady growth in production.
Acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for policies that have driven the sector’s recovery, Tompolo reaffirmed Tantita’s commitment to collaborating with NNPCL in combating crude oil theft and bolstering the nation’s economic stability.
“On behalf of Tantita Security Services, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari on his 60th birthday and pray for his continued health and wisdom in nation-building,” the statement concluded.
