Tinubu Unveils 3 Vital Gas Infrastructure Projects
President Bola Tinubu marked a significant milestone on Wednesday as he commissioned three crucial gas infrastructure projects across the nation. These projects include the expanded AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline.
During the virtual inauguration held at the State House, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to advancing key projects aligned with the Decade of Gas initiative launched by the Federal Government in 2021. This initiative aims to transition Nigeria into a gas-powered economy by 2030, leveraging the nation’s abundant gas resources while curbing gas flaring and accelerating industrialization.
President Tinubu underscored the significance of these projects in bolstering energy supply, stimulating industrial growth, and generating employment opportunities. Upon full operation, these projects are expected to contribute approximately 500 million standard cubic feet of gas to the domestic market, representing a substantial increase of over 25 percent in gas supply. This translates to enhanced energy provision for the power sector, gas-based industries, and other critical segments of the economy.
Commending the strategic vision of NNPC Limited and its partners, Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), and Seplat Energy Plc, President Tinubu applauded the collaborative efforts in realizing these value-adding projects.
President Tinubu reiterated his government’s commitment to leveraging Nigeria’s vast gas capacity to drive economic growth. He highlighted initiatives such as the Presidential CNG initiative aimed at transitioning the nation away from petrol and diesel as vehicular combustion fuels. He called upon all stakeholders and potential investors in the gas sector to embrace the theme of the inauguration, “From Gas to Prosperity; Renewed Hope,” and intensify efforts towards accelerating investment and project development.
In conclusion, President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to support initiatives aimed at deepening domestic gas utilization, increasing national power generation capacity, revitalizing industries, and fostering job creation. The inauguration of these gas infrastructure projects aligns with his administration’s commitment to providing energy for Nigerians and leveraging Nigeria’s natural gas resources for transformational impact
