Tinubu Names New Management Team for Federal Government Power Company

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of fresh members to the Federal Government Power Company Limited. Among the newly appointed members are Kenny Osebi Anuwe and Prof Mamman Lawal, who will continue in their roles as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Company Secretary/Legal Advisor, respectively.

The other members of the new management team are: Ebenezer Olawale Fapohunda as Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Babatunde Daramola Oniru as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), and Julius Oyekola Olabiyi as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

This announcement was made in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), on Friday.

Ngelale stated that the formation of the management team for the FG’s Power Company Limited is part of the ongoing efforts to reform the power sector and ensure energy security for all Nigerians. He emphasized that the power company will work closely with Siemens Energy to achieve the main objectives of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI).

“In recognition of the crucial role of power supply in driving enterprise and industrial development, and as part of comprehensive efforts to reform the power sector and ensure energy security for all Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new members of the management team of the FGN Power Company Limited,” Ngelale said.

“The President anticipates that with the full constitution of the management team, the FGN Power Company Limited will work diligently to realize the core objectives of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) in close collaboration with Siemens Energy through a holistic overhaul, modernization, and expansion of the national grid and other critical measures to ensure the growth of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI),” he added.

The Federal Government recently reached an agreement on financing electricity pilot projects in the country to achieve the goals of the PPI. This followed extensive discussions on expediting PPI agreements and overcoming transmission challenges during President Bola Tinubu’s delegation to Berlin, Germany last year for the German-Nigerian Business Forum.
