South Korea Commits Support for the Advancement of Nuclear Power in Ethiopia
The Republic of Korea (RoK) has committed to supporting Ethiopia in the development of civilian nuclear power. This pledge was made by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ethiopia, Kang Seokhee, during a seminar held at the Korean Embassy.
The seminar brought together officials from Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU), the Ministry of Innovation and Energy (MoIE), and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Representatives from the universities emphasized the significance of focusing on manpower development and stressed the importance of collaboration with developed countries to establish a nuclear science and technology center.
Ambassador Kang Seokhee assured that the Republic of Korea is committed to providing the necessary support to Ethiopia in its endeavors to develop civil nuclear power.
Ethiopia is actively working towards establishing a nuclear science and technology center to leverage the benefits of nuclear power for peaceful applications. In line with this goal, Ethiopia had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian nuclear power company, Rosatom, focusing on nuclear energy.
