The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has unveiled plans to build 6 new substations of 330KVA each to boost power supply to Lagos and Ogun States to further enhance the industrial prospects of the area believed to be the industrial hub of the country.

The managing director/chief executive officer, TCN, Mr. Usman Mohammad disclosed this in Abuja yesterday at a news conference. He said the programme is coming under the Transmission and Rehabilitation Project aimed at revamping the company’s ability to transmit electricity from generation point to distribution networks.

Comparing the Lagos – Ogun axis to what the New Jersey and New York, economy is to Nigeria, Mohammed noted that the biggest industries are located within the region. He also pointed out that this is the first time in the history of Nigeria for the TCN to be taking the bold step of building more than one 330KV substation in one region.
