Sifax Group Unveils Plans for $20 Million Truck Park at Lekki Port

In a bid to streamline truck movement within and around the Lekki Port corridor, the Sifax Group has revealed its intentions to construct a state-of-the-art $20 million Truck Park. This initiative aims to alleviate congestion and enhance efficiency in port operations.

The group has already secured a parcel of land worth approximately $11 million, with the capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 trucks simultaneously. Significant progress has been made in sand filling the waterlogged area, bringing the project closer to realization.

Collaborating closely with the Lekki Free Zone Development Company, Sifax is spearheading efforts to bring this innovative truck park to fruition. Upon completion, the facility is poised to revolutionize logistics operations in the region.

During a recent visit to the proposed site, it was evident that groundwork has commenced, with sand filling nearing completion and the entire area fenced off in preparation for further civil and engineering works.

Mrs. Bolatito Ajibode, Deputy Managing Director of the Lekki Free Zone Development Company, expressed optimism about the project’s advancement. She emphasized the critical need for such infrastructure and highlighted the scarcity of available land in the vicinity, underscoring the strategic significance of the Lekki Free Zone.

Ajibode outlined the phased development of the truck park, with an initial capacity for 500 trucks, followed by an additional 500 in the second phase. This expansion is expected to significantly alleviate congestion, mirroring the group’s commitment to operational efficiency.

The proposed truck park, poised to become the largest of its kind in the region, is set to address longstanding challenges faced by truck operators, particularly in areas like Apapa.

Sources close to Sifax revealed that the project had been kept confidential due to the involvement of other investors. However, with construction underway and plans advancing swiftly, the truck park promises to be a game-changer in the logistics landscape, offering a beacon of hope for improved efficiency and seamless operations at the Lekki Port.
