Shell pays Nigerian government $1.09 billion in taxes, royalties in 2023
According to the 2023 Shell Briefing Notes, SPDC contributed $442 million, while SNEPCo remitted $649 million. Comparatively, in 2022, these payments amounted to $1.36 billion.
Osagie Okunbor, SPDC Managing Director and Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, clarified, “These payments are Shell exclusive and do not include those made by our partners.” He emphasized Shell’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth through revenue generation and job creation by supporting local businesses.
