Shell Advocates Stronger Partnerships to Boost Nigeria’s Economy
The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) has emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between professional associations in the oil and gas industry and government agencies to enhance Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Speaking at the 60th Annual International Conference of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) in Abuja, SPDC Exploration Manager, Gogo Eneyok, highlighted the vital role of industry partnerships in fostering technological innovation across multiple sectors.
“SPDC has maintained a long-standing relationship with NMGS, sponsoring conferences, supporting research, and providing internship opportunities for professionals and academics. By offering real-time industry data, we are committed to improving the quality of academic research and driving technological advancements,” Eneyok stated.
He reaffirmed Shell’s dedication to powering progress in Nigeria, emphasizing opportunities in land, shallow and deep-water exploration, gas, and renewable energy.
The conference, themed “Transformation of the Mineral, Energy, Water, and Construction Sectors through Innovations,” brought together industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to discuss strategies for sustainable development.
In his address, NMGS President, Prof. Akinade Olatunji, urged the Nigerian government to recognize and trust local expertise to guide the nation towards sustained economic growth.
“This conference, which started from a humble beginning 60 years ago, has become Nigeria’s leading geosciences and mining forum. As the world evolves rapidly, it is imperative that we embrace innovation to address the challenges across various sectors,” he said.
