Seplat Energy Strengthens Ties with Akwa Ibom State for Sustainable Development
Seplat Energy Plc, a leading indigenous oil and gas producer in Nigeria, has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering sustainable development through a robust partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government.
During a courtesy visit to the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, a delegation led by Seplat Energy’s Board Chairman, Senator Udo Udoma, outlined the company’s plans to deepen its collaboration with the state. The visit, which took place in Uyo, also served as an opportunity for the company to officially announce the completion of its acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited. The acquired entity, now renamed Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU), retains all assets and liabilities of its predecessor.
Speaking during the engagement, Senator Udoma emphasized Seplat’s commitment to Nigeria’s energy goals and the socio-economic advancement of Akwa Ibom State. He highlighted SEPNU’s focus on sustainability and its strategy to work closely with the state government and local communities for long-term mutual benefits.
“We are honored to engage with the Akwa Ibom State Government and present our vision for a collaborative future,” Senator Udoma remarked. “Our commitment goes beyond operational growth; it extends to uplifting the communities where we operate. Governor Umo Eno warmly received the Seplat delegation, which included Group Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown and SEPNU Managing Director Oladotun Isiaka. The Governor assured Seplat Energy of his administration’s steadfast support and reiterated the state’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for the company’s operations. He expressed optimism that the partnership would drive tangible benefits for the people of Akwa Ibom, enhance the local economy, and promote sustainable growth.
