There are indications that the rift between Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base, LADOL and Samsung Heavy Industries, SHI, may be resolved in future as LADOL, the operator of the Lagos free trade zone, yesterday allowed SHI to return to its dockyard.
Recall that Samsung was banished from the Lagos-based dockyard since September 2, 2018 by LADOL as a result of alleged irregularities at the expiration of its license. Addressing newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, the Chief Operating Officer of SHI-MCI, Frank Ejisu, explained that, “Yesterday, Total contacted us to return to the dockyard. Already, some of our personnel have moved to the yard via the Total’s boats.”
He stated that the delay in the hookup of the Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) to the seabed before now would have negative impact on the project which was planned to deliver first oil in December, this year.
