Sahara Group Joins UN Global Compact, Strengthens ESG Commitment

Sahara Group, a leading global energy and infrastructure conglomerate, has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), reinforcing its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

By joining the UNGC, Sahara Group aligns itself with thousands of global businesses dedicated to responsible corporate practices, driving positive change across industries.

A Commitment to Global Sustainability

The UN Global Compact, launched in 2000, is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with over 20,000 companies across 160+ countries. It calls on businesses to align their operations with ten universally accepted principles in four key areas:
✅ Human rights
✅ Labour
✅ Environment
✅ Anti-corruption

Sahara Group’s decision to join the UNGC underscores its dedication to integrating sustainability into its operations and business strategies, while also contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sahara Group’s ESG Vision

Speaking on the development, Ejiro Gray, Director of Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, described it as a major milestone in the company’s journey toward responsible business leadership.

“In line with our commitment to making a difference and bringing energy to life responsibly, Sahara Group has aligned with the UN Global Compact’s ten universal principles, forming a cohesive unit with thousands of other responsible stakeholders across the globe.”

Gray emphasized that this move elevates ESG from a compliance-driven requirement to a core strategic pillar for Sahara Group, ensuring that sustainability remains at the heart of its business policies and operations.

“Sahara Group is not just meeting today’s ESG expectations—we are setting the standard for the future. Joining the UN Global Compact provides us with a powerful platform to drive corporate responsibility, amplify social impact, and champion sustainable business practices worldwide.”
