Republic of Congo’s SNPC to Unveil LNG Export Plans at African Energy Week (AEW) 2024

Cape Town, South Africa – March 22, 2024 – The Republic of Congo’s national oil company, Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC), is set to participate in the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) 2024 conference in Cape Town. SNPC’s Managing Director, Maixent Raoul Ominga, will be a speaker at the event.

Focus on Partnerships and Investment

SNPC is seeking strategic partnerships and investment to boost the country’s oil production to 500,000 barrels per day and accelerate gas exploration and production activities. At AEW 2024, the NOC will highlight key investment opportunities aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting sustainable practices, and developing local talent.

AEW: A Platform for Growth

AEW is a premier event for project developers, financiers, technology providers, and governments in the African energy sector. It provides a platform for deal-making and networking, making it an ideal venue for SNPC to connect with potential partners.

Recent Exploration and Production Activities

  • A recent offshore 3D seismic acquisition campaign, conducted in partnership with Perenco, aimed at identifying new drilling targets in the Tchibouela II, Tchendo II, Marine XXVIII, and Emeraude permits.
  • Eni’s shipment of the first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo from its Tango FLNG facility, marking a significant step forward for the country’s gas export ambitions.
  • The ongoing development of the Congo LNG project, targeting gas resources within the Marine XII concession, with a planned capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters per year by 2026.

Commitment to Sustainability

SNPC’s Eco Zamba initiative, launched in October 2023, demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility by focusing on restoring savannah land on the Batéké Plateaux.
