Prof. Ibrahim Gambari to Deliver Keynote at Realnews 12th Anniversary Lecture
Realnews Magazine and Publications Limited, the publisher of Realnews Magazine Online, has announced that Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria’s ex-Permanent Representative to the United Nations, will deliver the keynote address at its 12th Anniversary Lecture.
The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos. The theme for this year’s lecture is “Africa in World Shifting Geopolitics: Matters Arising on Democracy, Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Resources.” Prof. Gambari confirmed his acceptance to speak at the lecture in an email to Realnews on April 27, 2024, expressing his enthusiasm for the occasion.
Prof. Gambari is a distinguished academic and diplomat with a rich career. He served as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1990 to 1999, representing the nation under five different heads of state. He also held key positions, including President of UNICEF and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, where he served as Special Adviser on Africa under Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Additionally, he was Nigeria’s Minister of External Affairs from 1984 to 1985 under General Muhammadu Buhari.
The anniversary lecture will be chaired by Ms. Beatrice Eyong, the UN Women’s Country Representative in Nigeria, who will also lead a panel discussion to delve deeper into the lecture’s theme.
