ExxonMobil is in the market for a contractor to carry out geophysical and geotechnical work in preparation for its Owowo deep-water project off Nigeria. Pre-qualification documents have been released for an initial geophysical programme and a follow-on geotechnical campaign, with responses due back on 13 February.
Holding between 500 million and 1 billion barrels of oil, Owowo straddles Oil Mining Licence 139 and Oil Prospecting Licence 223. The geophysical workscope will involve mobilisation of one or more vessels able to acquire high-quality 2D seismic as well as multi-beam bathymetry, side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profiling data.
The successful contractor will also be required to process data and offer interpretation services. This data will help to interpret shallow drilling hazards and assess soil conditions. Shallow geotechnical sampling may also be acquired as part of the geophysical programme.
