Oil spill from SPDC pipeline rocks Rivers community

A pipeline operated by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, has erupted and spilled crude in Eneka community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The cause of the eruption is yet to be ascertained at this time, but eye witnesses said the eruption occured around 2:am this morning, near the Army Shooting Range in Eneka.

A witness who identified himself as Amadi, said they were awoken by a thick smoke from the pipeline area before they heard a loud bang.

Confirming the development, the Zonal Director of NOSDRA, Mr. Cyrus Nkangwung, said personal of the agency were on their way to the incident site to ascertained the situation.
