NSCDC Uncovers Five Suspects for Vandalizing Heirs Energies/NNPC Ltd JV.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has made notable progress in combating illegal oil activities, culminating in the arrest of five suspects involved in vandalizing the wellhead of Heirs Energies/NNPC Ltd JV. The incident took place in Odagwa Community, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the NSCDC uncovered 10 illegal refineries and seized over 500,000 litres of crude oil.

According to NSCDC spokesperson Olufemi Ayodele in Rivers State, the suspects had tampered with the wellhead located around the Imo River II field in Etche, using various pipes to siphon crude oil for illegal processing within the area. This discovery and subsequent arrests were facilitated by the efforts of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, acting on credible intelligence.

Ayodele highlighted that the illegal refining site was equipped with over 50 illegally constructed reservoirs, underscoring NSCDC‘s commitment to curbing crude oil theft, illegal mining, and illicit activities involving petroleum products nationwide.
