NPA, NLNG Strengthen Ties to Boost Nigeria’s LNG Exports
Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting Nigeria’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports by strengthening its partnership with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited.
The pledge was made by NPA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, during a meeting with NLNG CEO, Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, at the NPA headquarters in Marina, Lagos.
Mshelbila, speaking on behalf of NLNG, expressed appreciation for the NPA’s continued support and emphasized the need for deeper collaboration as the company expands its LNG production capacity to meet growing global demand.
Dantsoho assured NLNG of NPA’s unwavering support, aligning with the Federal Government’s export-driven economic agenda under the leadership of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
“The NLNG has played a key role in Nigeria’s economic development and export growth since its inception. We will grow this partnership,” Dantsoho stated.
Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of N5.81 trillion ($3.7 billion) in Q3 2024, according to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s foreign trade report. A significant portion of these exports were processed through NPA-managed platforms, reinforcing the agency’s crucial role in driving the nation’s trade performance.
With LNG exports playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economic trajectory, the renewed collaboration between NPA and NLNG is expected to enhance efficiency, increase trade volumes, and further solidify the country’s position as a key player in the global energy market
