NPA and NLNG Partner to Expand LNG Production and Boost Exports
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company in enhancing LNG production and exports. This pledge was made by NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, during a meeting with NLNG Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, at the NPA headquarters in Lagos.
Dr. Mshelbila expressed NLNG’s appreciation for NPA’s continued support and emphasized the importance of collaboration as NLNG expands its production capacity to meet growing global demand for liquefied natural gas.
In response, Dr. Dantsoho assured NLNG of the NPA’s unwavering support, noting the agency’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s export-driven economic strategy. He stated, “Imbued by the mandate of the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegoyega Oyetola, to support the Federal Government’s increased export orientation, we assure you of our unwavering support. NLNG has been a critical contributor to Nigeria’s economic development, particularly through export growth. Dr. Dantsoho highlighted that the NPA played a key role in Nigeria’s recent trade surplus of 5.81 trillion naira (approximately $3.7 billion USD) recorded in the third quarter of 2024, as reported by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG). He attributed this success to exports facilitated through the NPA’s platforms.
This strengthened partnership is expected to drive further growth in LNG exports, reinforcing Nigeria’s position in the global energy market while supporting the nation’s economic diversification goals.
