This ambitious project, valued at N24.5 billion, cuts through mangrove forests, boasting seven bridges and five culverts, and serves to connect 14 communities in the region.

At the commissioning ceremony held in Nembe on Monday, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of the Niger Delta, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lauded the project as a testament to the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” for sustainable development in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large. He emphasized that beyond its infrastructure significance, the road symbolizes progress, connectivity, and opportunities for the Nembe community, fostering economic growth and enhancing quality of life.

He highlighted its role in linking communities to urban centers, stimulating economic activities, and mitigating risks associated with river transport. Okunbor reaffirmed Shell’s dedication to partnering with government bodies to deliver projects that positively impact the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of NDDC, reiterated the commission’s commitment to completing projects across the Niger Delta that address the pressing needs of local communities.
