NNPC Ltd Hits 1.8 Million Barrels Daily, Targets 2 Million by Year-End
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a significant milestone in crude oil and gas production, achieving 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) of crude oil and 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of gas. This achievement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to enhance energy output and drive economic growth.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Mr. Mele Kyari, commended the efforts of the Production War Room Team for their pivotal role in the production recovery and enhancement process.
“The team has done a great job in driving this project, not only recovering production but escalating it to levels that meet the mandates set by the President, the Honourable Minister, and the Board,” Kyari stated.
Collaboration Driving Success
The Chief War Room Coordinator and Senior Business Adviser to the Group CEO, Mr. Lawal Musa, credited the milestone to the collective efforts of NNPC’s Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and both government and private security agencies.
Musa highlighted that when the Production War Room was inaugurated on June 25, 2024, crude oil production stood at 1.43 mbpd. Since then, strategic interventions across the production chain have increased output to 1.7 mbpd in August and 1.808 mbpd by November.
“With sustained momentum and enhanced security collaboration, achieving 2 mbpd by the end of the year is within reach,” Musa said.
