NNPC Collaborates with US and Deloitte to Address Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Nigeria.
In a proactive move to address environmental concerns, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has forged a partnership with the US Department of State and global consultancy firm Deloitte. Together, they aim to confront greenhouse gas emissions stemming from NNPC’s upstream operations. This strategic alliance is geared towards achieving net-zero carbon objectives, in line with international standards.
Three-Day Workshop Sets the Stage
A pivotal three-day workshop held in Abuja marked the inauguration of this initiative. Participants, comprising representatives from NNPC subsidiaries and pertinent government bodies, engaged in extensive discussions to chart the course ahead. Key topics included delineating project parameters, establishing baseline emission levels, and facilitating data accessibility for Deloitte consultants.

NNPC’s Exploration & Production, New Energy, Gas Infrastructure, and Health, Safety & Environment divisions have joined hands with government entities like the National Council on Climate Change. This collective effort underscores the initiative’s commitment to a holistic and inclusive approach.
US Backing Reinforces Commitment
The project garners support from the US Department of State’s Energy and Mineral Governance Programme (EMGP), underscoring international endorsement for Nigeria’s climate aspirations.
