NMDPRA Appoints Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre Coordinator
The Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has appointed, Charles Nwachukwu as the Coordinator of the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (MDPADRC).
Established in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Alternative Dispute Resolution Regulations 2023, MDPADRC aims at ensuring timely resolution of dispute within the midstream and downstream of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
Aside having jurisdiction in disputes within the midstream and downstream of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, it also has jurisdiction in disputes that have to do with open access and third party access to facilities as well as infrastructure used for gas petroleum liquid operations.
Others include trading and settlement dispuy, host communities and industry labour issues.
In addition, industry disputes may also be referred to the Centre by a court for resolution.
Nwachukwu who has over 23 years experience in the oil and gas industry, had worked under the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the NMDPRA.
He is a lawyer and an AIM qualified mediator with the UK Mediation Institute.
Nwachukwu belongs to several industry and professional associations.
