NIPCO Gas Ltd Leads Nigeria’s Transition to a Sustainable Energy Future

NIPCO Gas Ltd is spearheading Nigeria’s shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy by expanding the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across the country.

Managing Director and CEO Nagendra Verma highlighted the company’s recent achievements, emphasizing its commitment to making CNG a viable alternative fuel for Nigerians. He also expressed appreciation for the media’s role in amplifying NIPCO Gas Ltd’s efforts in the gas sector, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration.

Expanding CNG Infrastructure Nationwide

Verma reiterated that, in partnership with NNPC Limited and the Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI), NIPCO Gas Ltd is rapidly increasing the number of CNG stations, conversion workshops, and the availability of conversion kits across Nigeria. This initiative aligns with the company’s goal of providing affordable, sustainable, and eco-friendly energy solutions.

He further announced that NIPCO Gas Ltd has secured Gas Distribution Licenses (GDL) from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Federal Government. This milestone strengthens investor confidence in Nigeria’s gas sector, with the 25-year exclusivity period ensuring efficiency by preventing infrastructure duplication.

With these awards, NIPCO Gas Ltd is now Nigeria’s largest indigenous licensed gas distribution company, solidifying its leadership in the industry.

Operational Success and Market Expansion

NIPCO Gas Ltd has made significant progress in expanding its CNG infrastructure, commissioning multiple stations in Abuja, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi, and Akwa Ibom. The company also recently signed an agreement with the Delta State Government to construct a CNG station and conversion workshop in Asaba, with plans to further expand in the state.

To ensure greater accessibility, NIPCO Gas Ltd is working closely with PCNGI to increase the availability of CNG conversion kits. The company is also forging partnerships with local and international suppliers to make conversion kits more affordable and efficient.

Commitment to Public Awareness and Future Growth

“Educating Nigerians on the benefits and safety of CNG remains a top priority for NIPCO Gas Ltd,” Verma stated, urging the media to help drive awareness about CNG as a cleaner and cost-effective alternative fuel.

Looking ahead, NIPCO Gas Ltd plans to further expand its operations, launching additional CNG stations nationwide and enhancing infrastructure, including pipelines and storage facilities.
