NIMASA hands over site of modular floating dock to Melsmore

- The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has handed over a leased site at the Continental Shipyard Limited (CSL) to their technical partners, Melsmore.
- The technical partners will work with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to finalize site management and conduct a risk assessment before moving the modular floating dock to the Continental Shipyard for full operations.
- NIMASA and Melsmore have also agreed to invite Damen Shipyard, the manufacturer of the floating dock, to assist in recommissioning the Dockyard.

- The deployment of the modular floating dock is highly anticipated, as it has the potential to boost maritime trade, create jobs, develop skills, attract foreign investment, and generate revenue.
- The dock is expected to provide training opportunities for maritime institutions in Nigeria and accommodate students from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria and the Maritime University Okerenkoko for practical training.
- Melsmore’s Managing Director, Mr. Danny Fuchs, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on this important project and assured NIMASA that his company is prepared to handle the movement of the floating dock from the naval dockyard to the Continental Shipyard Limited (CSL).
