Nigeria’s Anthony Chiejina Among ‘2024 World’s Most Influential Communications Executives’

Anthony Chiejina, the Group Head of Corporate Communications at Dangote Group, has been honored by global PR firm Provoke Media as one of the “100 Most Influential Communications and Marketing Executives in the World for 2024.”

Provoke Media highlighted the immense challenges corporations and brands face amidst the global “permacrisis”—a term reflecting significant geopolitical, economic, societal, cultural, and environmental upheavals. In such turbulent times, senior communications and marketing executives are required to perform with unprecedented speed and effectiveness. The 2024 list of the top 100 professionals exemplifies the critical role of trusted communications guidance in maintaining reputation and facilitating business transformation.

Chiejina was selected alongside notable figures from top government agencies, global corporations, and conglomerates. The list includes:

Anthony Chiejina holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, an M.Sc in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management from the University of Lagos, an M.A. in Organizational Analysis & Behaviour from the University of Lancaster, UK, and an M.A. in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague, Netherlands.

His career includes editorial positions at African Economic Digest, London, and African Concord, Lagos, as well as roles as Assistant General Manager at Zenith Bank Plc and Deputy General Manager at Oceanic Bank International Plc. Currently, as the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer at Dangote Industries Limited, he manages communication strategies across various business units and Pan-African operations.

Chiejina’s academic distinctions include being a Salzburg Fellow, recipient of the British Government Scholarship (ODASS), Netherlands Fellowship, University of Lagos Scholar, University of Oslo Fellowship, Fellow of the Oxford University Centre of Corporate Reputation, and memberships in several professional organizations such as the American Public Relations Association, British Public Relations Association, Institute of Directors (IoD), and Association of Sustainability Professionals of Nigeria (ASPN).
