NGA Acknowledges Osagie Okunbor and Shell Nigeria for Pioneering Role in Nigeria’s Gas Development.
The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) has lauded Mr. Osagie Okunbor, Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, for his exceptional contributions to the advancement of Nigeria’s gas sector. This recognition was extended during a recent visit by the NGA’s Executive Council members to SPDC, where Okunbor and Shell were commended for their pivotal collaboration with the Association on crucial advocacy and industry initiatives.
The partnership between Shell and NGA has played a vital role in shaping critical policies, laws, and regulations necessary for the growth of Nigeria’s gas sector. This collaboration has influenced initiatives such as the Gas Master Plan, Domestic Gas Pricing Framework, Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code, Gas Expansion program, and input into the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, which have incentivized investment in Nigerian gas.
Mr. Akachukwu Nwokedi, President of the NGA, praised Okunbor and Shell for their steadfast support and active involvement in initiatives aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s vast gas reserves for commercialization.
He highlighted the NGA’s role in coordinating the Decade of Gas Secretariat, a pivotal initiative aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s gas sector’s future.
In response, Mr. Okunbor commended NGA’s focus and alignment on critical industry issues, acknowledging the Association as a disciplined platform for gas advocacy. He reiterated Shell’s commitment to supporting NGA’s objectives and actively contributing to unlocking Nigeria’s gas potential.
