New Alliance to Promote Hydrogen Energy in Africa, Reduce Emissions

The Africa Green Hydrogen Alliance – AGHA Green Hydrogen Organisation – GH2 will be coordinating with the African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) to lay the foundation for establishing hydrogen economies and societies in Africa besides promoting the creation of a pool of investments.
The Alliance established by six countries;
  • Egypt,
  • Morocco,
  • South Africa,
  • Kenya,
  • Namibia and
  • Mauritania is intended to foster collaboration on creating a sustainable enabling environment to supercharge green hydrogen development, according to Osama Fawzy Georgy, an Egyptian renewable energy expert and marketing specialist.He said in a statement now public, “This includes developing public and regulatory policy, as well as capacity building, financing, and certification requirements to mobilise green hydrogen production for domestic and export use.
“The AGHA and AHP’s main goals are to promote, support, and accelerate the deployment of green and renewable hydrogen and its derivatives, fuel cell technology, and to improve access to clean energy and mobility in Africa by aligning the industry, renewable industry, and financial industry communities and thus increasing the effectiveness of this community’s representation.”

He highlighted the environmental benefits for African nations including reduced CO2 emissions; cleaner air, soil and water; less deforestation; mitigation of terror risks and exploitation associated with climate displacement; and scalable cutting edge technology to meet the challenge of rapid population growth.
Osama added that the Alliance and the Association would enable member companies to exchange views and ideas on economic, technical and other relevant social topics, including the treatment of political, legal and tax issues on a pan-African basis. “It would enable them to communicate with the public, governments and administrative bodies with one voice,” he said.
