NERC Releases Electricity Distribution Figures for January 2024
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has released data indicating that eleven Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) across the country collectively received 2,577.60 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity in January 2024, valued at N130.92 billion.
The Discos mentioned include Abuja, Benin, Eko, Enugu, Ibadan, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Yola electricity distribution companies. Among them, Ikeja and Abuja Discos recorded the highest volumes of power receipt, with 413.69 GWh and 403 GWh, respectively. Conversely, Yola Discos received the lowest volume of power at 74.92 GWh during the same period.

Concerning revenue collection, Ikeja and Eko Discos led the pack by collecting N17.59 billion and N16.30 billion, respectively, from electricity sales in January. In contrast, Kaduna and Yola Discos reported the lowest revenue collections at N3.24 billion and N1.99 billion, respectively. Port Harcourt Disco collected N6.62 billion during the same period.
These figures offer insights into the commercial performance of Discos and underscore variations in power receipt and revenue collection across different regions within the country’s electricity distribution network.
