NERC Greenlights Expansion of Band Feeders, Boosting Power Supply in Lagos
In a significant development for electricity consumers in Lagos, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given the green light to the upgrade of 33 additional feeders in the franchise area of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to Band A status.
Under the newly approved Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO), Band A customers are set to benefit from a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily, marking a substantial improvement in service reliability.
Mr. Babatunde Lasaki, the General Manager of Corporate Communications at EKEDC, confirmed the approval, emphasizing the commitment of the company to enhance the quality of service for its customers.
The 33 additional feeders slated for upgrade include a diverse range of areas such as residential estates, commercial zones, and industrial hubs, ensuring a broad impact across various segments of the community.
Lasaki highlighted the ongoing efforts of EKEDC to expand the list of Band A feeders, with a focus on providing a reliable power supply to more customers. He also reaffirmed the company’s dedication to ensuring that customers in Bands B to E receive their guaranteed minimum supply hours while continuous improvements are made to power delivery.
Expressing the DisCo’s commitment to infrastructure investment, Lasaki underscored EKEDC’s collaboration with stakeholders in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) to achieve stable and uninterrupted power supply.
