The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disowned a message circulating about purported ongoing recruitment by the commission and advised Nigerians not to fall victims to the recruitment scam.

In a series of tweets via its official Tweeter handle on Thursday, NERC said the perpetrators of the recruitment scam demanded employment processing fees from unsuspecting members of the public.

The Commission noted that it is not recruiting either directly or indirectly, adding that it follows due process for conducting recruitment in consonance with the public service rules.

“The perpetrators of this recruitment scam have demanded “employment processing fees” from unsuspecting members of the public. However, we hereby state as follows: We are not recruiting either directly or through any proxy for any position,” NERC said.

“The Commission shall comply with due process for conducting recruitment into the public service when a decision is made to commence recruitment by advertising all available positions formally to the public

“Members of the public are advised to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to these unscrupulous and fraudulent persons that intend to defraud unsuspecting applicants.”

The Commission said that in the event of recruitment, it does not charge prospective applicants employment processing fees, and advised members of the public  to visit  its website http://nerc.gov.ng for accurate and reliable information.
