NDPHC: Nurturing Engineering Talent Through Internship Program
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited is advancing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with a robust Internship Program designed to provide practical experience to young Nigerian engineering graduates from across the nation’s six geopolitical zones.
The inaugural cohort of interns spent a year working at various NDPHC power plants, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in different facets of the power generation value chain. NDPHC, which oversees the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) assets, offers extensive training opportunities through its operations, managing 10 power plants (8 of which are operational) with a combined capacity of 4,015 MW, along with transmission lines and distribution substations.
As this first cohort concludes, the Program’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team has assessed both the interns’ performance and the overall impact of the program. During a visit to the Omotosho Power Plant in Ondo State, the M&E team received glowing feedback regarding the interns’ contributions and skill levels, indicating their potential for future employment with NDPHC.
The success of the internship program is evident from the interns’ demonstrated understanding of power plant operations and effective teamwork. Given these positive outcomes, NDPHC plans to continue this CSR initiative, which not only enhances the careers of young engineers but also serves as a meaningful contribution to the Nigerian community.
The advertisement for the second cohort will commence on May 27, coinciding with the graduation ceremony of the first cohort
