NCDMB Commissions Daewoo Galvanising Plant in Rivers State.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe (FNSE), today commissioned the Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited Galvanising Plant in Abam Ama, Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. The event was attended by management and staff of the NCDMB, as well as key stakeholders in the oil and gas industry.
The Daewoo E&C Galvanisation Plant is a significant product of a collaborative effort between the NCDMB, Daewoo, Saipem Contracting Nigeria Ltd, and Nigeria LNG (NLNG). The plant is designed to promote in-country galvanisation services, particularly for the NLNG Train 7 Project, as well as other future projects within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and other sectors of the economy.
At the commissioning ceremony, Engr. Ogbe was joined by several industry leaders, including Philip Mshelbilia, Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited, represented by GM External Relations, Andy Odeh; Tae Won Jung, Managing Director of Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Ltd, represented by Deputy Director Construction NLNG Train 7 Project, Mr. Young Phil Oh; and Michele Poggi, Managing Director of Saipem Contracting Nigeria Ltd, represented by Construction Director NLNG Train 7 Project, Mr. Fiorini Francesco.
Also in attendance were Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, Director M&E Directorate NCDMB; Barr. Esueme Dan-Kikile, GM Corporate Communications/Zonal Coordination NCDMB; Mr. Mode Magbele, STA to the ES NCDMB; and leaders of the Abam Ama Community, among other dignitaries.

In his remarks, Engr. Ogbe commended Nigeria LNG for its positive response to the Board’s request to invest in a capacity development project that addresses a critical gap in the oil and gas industry. He highlighted that the establishment of the Daewoo Galvanisation Plant is part of NLNG’s capacity development interventions for the Train 7 Project, and represents a legacy investment that will have a lasting impact on the industry.
The commissioning of the plant marks a significant milestone in the drive to enhance local content and industrial capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, and it underscores the importance of collaboration between industry stakeholders in achieving these goals.
