NCC, SEC, NASENI Heads, Professors to Discuss Economic Recovery at WES 2024
Preparations are underway for the annual WorldStage Economic Summit (WES) 2024, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Lagos. The event will feature top business and public executives, including Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and Mr. Khalil Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), among others.
The summit, organized by WorldStage Limited, will explore the theme “Nigeria: Setting a Stage for Business and Economic Recovery”. Initially planned to take place at the Event Centre, Nigerian Exchange, the venue has now been shifted to IBIS Hotel, 23 Toyin Street, Lagos.
Key stakeholders expected at WES 2024 include representatives from the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, as well as academic experts from economics departments of major universities.
Prominent academics such as Prof. Diran Akinleye, Head of Economics at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Prof. Yaqub Jameelah Omolara from Lagos State University (LASU) will join the panel to discuss the summit’s theme. The event comes at a time when Nigeria’s economy is facing multiple challenges, including the aftermath of COVID-19, Naira re-denomination, and the removal of fuel subsidies.
Mr. Segun Adeleye, President/CEO of WorldStage Limited, emphasized the significance of WES 2024, stating that the summit will focus on key stakeholders needed for Nigeria’s economic recovery and stimulate discussions aimed at public buy-in and long-term solutions.
