Navy Issues Warning to Personnel Against Collusion with Oil Thieves

Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has cautioned officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy against collaborating with criminals involved in activities such as oil theft and other maritime crimes.The warning was issued during the decoration ceremony of 29 newly promoted senior officers to the rank of Rear Admiral in Abuja. Vice Admiral Ogalla emphasized the need for the armed forces to play a crucial role in ensuring the security and prosperity of Nigeria, especially in addressing the challenges faced in 2023.

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) emphasized to the newly promoted officers that the Nigerian Navy and the nation as a whole rely on their dedication and loyalty to the President and Constitution. He underscored the importance of addressing the numerous security challenges facing the country through their commitment and service.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted him as saying: “Your ingenuity, resourcefulness and integrity will be required to reposition the Service in the years ahead.

“The Nigerian Navy, in collaboration with other security agencies, has continuously strived to protect the economic mainstay of the country through various operations to counter oil theft.”

“While there are significant achievements, there are still cases of personnel colluding with criminals to undermine our efforts.

“Let me, therefore, warn that any form of collusion with criminals or acts of sabotage will be met with stiff sanctions in accordance with the law.”
