NAEC 2024 Conference Set to Address Nigeria’s Energy Future, Ministers Confirm Attendance
All is set for the 2024 edition of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) Annual Strategic International Conference, bringing together top stakeholders from Nigeria’s oil, gas, power, and renewable energy sectors. The conference, scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, will focus on the theme: “Gas as Energy Transition Fuel: Navigating Nigeria’s Trilemma of Finance, Energy Security, and International Politics.”
This year’s theme underscores the critical need to harness Nigeria’s abundant natural gas resources as a cleaner, affordable energy source while tackling the challenges of energy security and international dynamics.
High-profile speakers, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, have confirmed their participation. They will be joined by the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, who will deliver the industry keynote address.
Regulatory leaders, including the Chief Executives of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), will also deliver crucial addresses on regulatory advancements.
This year’s conference will feature three panel sessions addressing the conference theme, the downstream oil and gas sector, and investment opportunities in Nigeria’s power sector. Special presentations will be made by industry leaders such as the Vice President of Oil & Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin; Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited, Dr. Philip Mshelbila; and CEO of Pinnacle Oil & Gas Limited, Mr. Robert Dickerman.
NAEC Chairman Ugo Amadi expressed excitement over the line-up, noting that the conference will confront Nigeria’s most pressing energy challenges and provide strategic solutions for the nation’s energy security and sustainable future.
According to the Conference Committee Chairman, Adeola Yusuf, the event promises to be a game-changer, unlocking investments and driving sustainable development in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
