Multisub Energy and OHCDT Empower Host Communities with Solar Lights and Infrastructure Projects

…NUPRC Applauds Multisub’s Commitment to Social Investment

In a move to uplift and empower host communities, Multisub Energy Limited, an indigenous oil and gas exploration and production company, in collaboration with the Olure Host Communities’ Development Trust (OHCDT), has commissioned several community development projects in Warri North LGA, Delta State.

The projects include furnishing Abokunwa Primary School in Eghoro Community with 50 student desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, magic boards, and a 120-meter walkway to promote access to quality education. Additionally, 70 solar-powered streetlights have been installed across Ikeyan and Safa/Ogbin bloc of communities to improve nighttime safety and security.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Igho Okotete, Chairman and Managing Director of Multisub Energy, represented by Mr. Tega Okotete, Executive Director, Strategy and Planning, praised the rapid strides made by OHCDT since its board’s inauguration in July 2024. He emphasised that these quick-impact projects reflect the OHCDT’s dedication to addressing the immediate needs of the host communities.

In his official remarks, Dr. Okotete, through Mr. Tega Okotete, reiterated:

“At Multisub Energy Limited, we believe our role extends beyond exploration and production. We are committed to impacting lives positively through job creation, capacity building, and our continuous funding of the Olure Host Communities Development Trust. These projects exemplify collaboration at its best, and I commend the efforts of the Multisub team, OHCDT, and our host communities.”

He further acknowledged the support of the Warri North Local Government Council and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in driving these initiatives forward.

Representing NUPRC, Chief Amb. Ogunnubi Olusegun Benjamin, through Mrs. Akpojisheri Felicia, Manager HSE&C, lauded Multisub Energy for its unwavering commitment to development. He described the commissioned projects as “beacons of hope and symbols of progress” and urged sustained collaboration between the company and host communities.

Also speaking, Hon. Festus Ashima, Chairman of Warri North LGA and Special Guest of Honour, commended Multisub Energy for prioritising corporate social responsibility. He described the projects as a testament to the company’s dedication to sustainable development and improving the lives of the people. Hon. Ashima encouraged community members to take ownership of the projects, ensuring their proper maintenance, while assuring the company of a peaceful environment to attract further investments.

Community leaders, including Pa. Jonathan Ireye, Secretary of Eghoro Community Elders Council; Chief Amb. Moses Donyebi, Chairman, Safa/Ogbin Bloc Communities; Hon. Friday Oyibo, Councillor Representing Eghoro Ward; and Ovie Eruewu, Head Teacher of Abokunwa Primary School, also praised Multisub Energy and OHCDT for their impactful interventions.
