Mozambique Needs 100 Million Dollars for Rail Electrification
The Mozambican government requires approximately $100 million to execute the pilot rail electrification project, stretching from Maputo city to the South African border at Ressano Garcia, covering a distance of 88 kilometers.
Transport Minister Mateus Magala, addressing reporters in Maputo after a meeting with Dutch ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman on Thursday, stressed the importance of clean, green energies for the future’s well-being, especially to safeguard future generations.
Magala highlighted the challenge of limited funding resources for improving mobility but emphasized that mass transport, particularly through railways, is pivotal for enhancing people’s mobility.
He mentioned the government’s strategy of implementing demonstration projects to promote the use of railways as a solution.
