MOJEC Achieves Milestone with Deployment of Over 300,000 Meters in 2024
MOJEC International Limited, a trailblazer in Nigeria’s power and energy sector, has reinforced its status as sub-Saharan Africa’s largest smart meter manufacturer with a remarkable achievement in 2024. The company deployed over 300,000 meters across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), marking a significant contribution to improving energy access and efficiency.
Through its subsidiary, MOJEC Meter Asset Management Company (M3AC), the company installed over 240,000 of the 300,000 deployed meters, demonstrating its critical role in driving Nigeria’s sustainable energy transformation.
Highlighting this achievement, MOJEC’s Head of Installation, Engr. Monday Ubogu, revealed that the company completed 150,000 installations within the first three quarters of 2024, representing 40% of all meter installations nationwide by Distribution Companies (DisCos). The momentum continued in the fourth quarter, with the deployment of an additional 95,000 meters, bringing the total installations for the year to over 240,000.
“This record-breaking feat underscores MOJEC’s capacity to execute major metering initiatives, including CAPMI, MAF, Vendor Financing, MAP Phases I & II, and NMMP 0,” Engr. Monday stated. “Since the privatization of the NESI, we have deployed nearly 4 million meters, a testament to our leadership in this space.”
MOJEC’s Group Managing Director, Chantelle Abdul, credited the success to the company’s advanced metering infrastructure. “Our state-of-the-art production facilities, with an annual installed capacity of up to 5 million meters, are central to our achievements,” she said. “This robust production capacity not only addresses Nigeria’s metering deficit but also strengthens our position as a leader in Africa’s energy sector.”
She further emphasized MOJEC’s expansive network of over 5,000 skilled installers, ensuring rapid and efficient meter deployment across the country. “Our installer network is a cornerstone of our operations, enabling us to deliver on our promise of empowering homes, businesses, and industries with reliable electricity access,” Abdul added.
