…Pledges More People-Oriented Projects
…Onu-Orie, Obuno Community Applauds Dr. Ogbuanu’s Generosity

In a landmark event that underscores the federal government’s commitment to rural electrification and grassroots development, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, has commissioned a 300KVA transformer in Onu-Orie, Obuno Autonomous Community, Akpugo, within Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. The project, funded and executed by renowned industrialist Dr. Basil Ogbuanu, marks a significant stride in improving access to electricity and enhancing the socio-economic prospects of the region.

The inauguration, held on Saturday, attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, local leaders, and residents who came together to celebrate the milestone. Chief Nnaji, while unveiling the project, expressed his admiration for the transformative initiative led by Dr. Ogbuanu, the Chairman of Second Coming Limited.

Minister’s Commitment to Community Development

In his address, Chief Nnaji reassured the community of his unwavering dedication to attracting people-focused projects to Enugu State. He highlighted his ongoing efforts in human capital development, stating that over 100 residents from the Akpugo axis, including Obuno, have benefitted from employment opportunities through his initiatives.

“I may not have money to distribute, but I can provide human capital development, infrastructure, and impactful projects,” the Minister said. “These are initiatives that change lives and transform communities.”

Chief Nnaji emphasized the importance of supporting Federal Government programs, noting that they are designed to improve living standards across the country. He also pledged to address concerns raised by the community, particularly the lack of government presence, and committed to exploring solutions for improving major access roads and enhancing infrastructure in the area.

Dr. Ogbuanu: A Beacon of Philanthropy

The newly commissioned transformer and the accompanying electricity reticulation project were funded by Dr. Basil Ogbuanu, an industrialist and Pastor with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries. Speaking at the event, Dr. Ogbuanu revealed that his motivation stemmed from a deep desire to give back to his community and leave a lasting legacy.

“As individuals, we are all pilgrims on this earth,” he said. “I want to make an impact that goes beyond physical structures, touching lives and uplifting the socioeconomic status of the people in this community.”

The project, he explained, would ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to all households in Onu-Orie Obuno, enabling artisans, craftsmen, and small business owners to thrive. By fostering economic activity, the initiative is expected to improve the quality of life and reduce rural-urban migration.

Call for Collective Action

Chief Nnaji used the occasion to call on other affluent individuals and philanthropists to emulate Dr. Ogbuanu’s example by investing in community development projects. He underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between private citizens and the government in accelerating progress and improving living conditions.

“This 300KVA transformer is not just an achievement for Onu-Orie Obuno; it is a model for what can be achieved when individuals and government work together,” the Minister said.

Community’s Response

The people of Onu-Orie, Obuno Autonomous Community, expressed profound gratitude to both the Minister and Dr. Ogbuanu for their commitment to their welfare. Local leaders lauded the transformative impact of the project, emphasizing its potential to spur economic growth and improve livelihoods.

A community elder remarked, “For years, we have struggled with unreliable electricity, which has hampered our growth. This project is a beacon of hope and a sign that our voices are being heard.”

Looking Ahead

As the event concluded, Chief Nnaji reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the continued development of Akpugo and surrounding areas. He hinted at plans to attract more federal projects to the region, focusing on infrastructure, education, and employment generation.

Dr. Ogbuanu, in turn, pledged to continue supporting initiatives that uplift the less privileged and contribute to the holistic development of society.

The inauguration of the 300KVA transformer in Onu-Orie Obuno stands as a testament to the power of visionary leadership, philanthropy, and collective action. It represents a step forward in bridging the infrastructure gap in rural areas and creating opportunities for sustained growth and development.
