The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has issued a disclaimer on a document circulating on various websites and social media platforms, on the farming out of marginal fields operation in the country, calling it fake.
In the disclaimer issued on Tuesday, the Nigeria’s oil industry regulatory agency, said that the document titled,” Guidelines for Farmout and Operation of Marginal Fields” and other related documents making the rounds, did not emanate from the Department.
The DPR admonished the general public and all stakeholders in the country’s oil industry, to pay no attention to the documents, as it is the handiwork of mischief makers whose main target is to “defraud unsuspecting individuals and investors alike.”
The Department called on the general public to only rely on its published information in the media, its official website and official social media platforms.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has been drawn to a document titled: “Guildelines for Farmout and Operation of Marginal Fields,” and similar documents currently making the rounds on some websites and the social media, purportedly issued by the DPR.
“Members of the public and all stakeholders are by this notice strongly advised to disregard these fake documents in their entirety, as they are the handiwork of unscrupulous persons and mischief makers whose sole motive is to defraud unsuspecting individuals and investors alike.
“The DPR , as always, is committed to open and transparent processes for all regulatory activities in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
“Accordingly, DPR enjoins the general public to rely only on DPR published information in the media, on the DPR website and other official electronic channels.”
