IPPG Commends NCDMB for Pragmatic Implementation of NOGICD Act
The Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), has commended the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for being pragmatic in the implementation of Nigerian content.
The Chairman of IPPG, Abdulrazaq Isa gave the commendation on Tuesday at the 2022 Practical Nigerian Content (PNC), currently ongoing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with the theme” “Deepening Nigerian Content Opportunities in the Decade of Gas.”
The NCDMB in Just over a decade, has increased local content in the oil and gas industry from less than five percent before 2010 to about 42 percent,” and is on track to achieve 70 percent Nigerian content in the oil and gas industry by 2027.
According to Isa, indigenous oil and gas operators are now thriving because of the support and enabling environment that NCDMB has provided, adding that IPPG is a product of Nigerian content.
“As I stand here before you as Chairman of an association of 27 indigenous oil and gas producers, there’s no better way to demonstrate that natural content is working. The emergence of strong indigenous exploration and production companies is a testament to the successful local content policy of government. IPPG is a product of this policy,” Isa said.
He charged industry players to galvanize themselves to fully take advantage that the Decade of Gas initiative of the Federal Government provides, stressing that as an industry in the short and medium term there is a need to rapidly exploit the country’s hydrocarbon assets for the socio economic transformation of the nation and the pricing to guarantee energy security.
“For our country, it is therefore reassuring that proactive and concerted efforts have been undertaken by government in particular, pushing gas as a major pathway for Nigeria’s 2016 commitment.
The Declaration of 2021 to 2030 as a decade of gas provides an opportunity to galvanize the industry to fully utilize and commercialize the nation’s abundant gas resources to rapidly catalyze sectors of the economy. IPPG fully supports this policy and will work with all stakeholders to harness Nigeria’s gas reserves,” he said.
