IPOB Threatens EEDC Over Persistent Power Outages in the South East
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a stern warning to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) over the continuous poor power supply in the South East region. The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement released to the press on Monday, expressed dissatisfaction with the electricity distribution company’s services and billing practices.
Powerful criticized the EEDC for failing to provide consistent electricity to the region while simultaneously increasing electricity bills. He argued that the people of the South East are being unfairly charged for electricity they are not consuming, calling the billing system “wicked” and “extortionate.”
The statement also called on the governors of the South East to take action against the EEDC, urging them to explore alternative electricity providers that can offer more reliable and affordable services. Powerful emphasized that the recent electricity reform by the federal government gives states the power to generate and distribute electricity, providing an opportunity for the South East to improve its power supply.
