Emphasizing the Vital Role of Human Capital Development in Repositioning NASENI- Electric Vehicles
Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has emphasized the significance of investing in human capital development and staff motivation to enhance the Agency’s standing as a global force in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).
Delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of a 5-day training session for Information, New Media, and Protocol staff from the Agency’s Headquarters and Institutes, the CEO stressed the importance of staff training and development for the overall success of any organization.
The training, focused on New Media and Protocol Strategies for a Modern Government Agency in the 21st century, aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate contemporary communication challenges and enhance the Agency’s effectiveness. The event took place in Abuja.
According to him, “We are building a new NASENI where one of the overarching goals is to have well-trained employees with knowledge and requisite technical, vocational and management skills required for the Agency’s growth and technology advancement.”
Underlining the Agency’s mission, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu highlighted that the primary objective of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is to propel Nigeria’s swift industrialization through the implementation of the new three Cs: Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization.
He further elaborated that during his tenure over the past four months as the leader of NASENI, the Agency has actively pursued new partnerships and collaborations.
The overarching goal of these initiatives is to transform NASENI’s extensive portfolio, which includes over 150 scientific and technological prototypes, products, and intellectual property rights (IPR), into finished and marketable products. This strategic approach aims to harness the full potential of NASENI’s innovations for the benefit of Nigeria’s industrial landscape.
“We have signed multibillion dollars new Memorandum of Understandings, MOUs, and revived old ones with international technical partners to establish coal-based fertilizer plants, Lithium processing and Electric Vehicle, EVs, manufacturing plants, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAVs, for Agricultural afforestation, smart solar irrigation, tractor repairs, and crop traceability for food security,” he explained.
The Coordinating Director, Engineering Infrastructure, Prof. Bagudu Dansheu Gwadangaji, represented by Engr. Dr. Olayode Olasupo urged the Information Staff to embrace new media and protocol strategies for the sustained success and relevance of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
In an encouraging message to the participants during the training on New Media and Protocol Strategies for a Modern Government Agency, Engr. Dr. Olayode Olasupo emphasized the significance of adapting to innovative communication approaches.
He highlighted that the participant’s presence at the training not only signifies personal and professional growth but also reflects a collective commitment to enhancing the capabilities of NASENI as a forward-thinking government agency.
“I encourage you to actively engage in the sessions, collaborate with your peers, and absorb the wealth of knowledge that this training has to offer. The insights gained here will understandably contribute to your skills, allowing you to make valuable contributions to our ICT initiatives.”
Additionally, the Coordinating Director of Science Infrastructure, Prof. Umar Gaya, highlighted the timeliness of the training’s theme, stating that it will equip participants with essential skills and tools to counteract fake news, which could have negative repercussions for organizations.
