Heritage Energy and WIEN Empower Young Girls with Career Fair on International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL), in partnership with the Women in Energy Network (WIEN), hosted a Career Fair in Lagos to inspire and mentor young girls towards leadership and career excellence.

Themed “Empowering Dreams: Inspiring the Next Generation of Women Leaders,” the event brought together 200 schoolgirls from various secondary schools in Lagos, including Surulere Girls Senior Secondary School, Hebert Macaulay Girls Senior High School, and Wesley Girls Senior Secondary School, among others.

Distinguished industry leaders served as mentors, including Chisa Otokpa, General Counsel & Company Secretary, HEOSL; Ebehi Odejobi, Head of Internal Audit and Control, HEOSL; Chichi Emenike, Acting MD/Head of Gas Ventures, Neconde Energy Ltd; Shirley Ifeanyi, CEO, Zoe Gordon & Co. Ltd; Remi Amoo, MD, Funtay Gas Company; and Lilian Uzodiagu, Senior Manager, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. They shared personal insights and career guidance with the students.

Speaking at the event, Ebehi Odejobi highlighted the importance of self-discovery, saying, “Integrity, curiosity, and taking up space are key to discovering yourself and becoming relevant in life.”

Chisa Otokpa, General Counsel of HEOSL, encouraged the students to believe in their potential. “Whatever you choose to do, always remember that your voice matters. Most importantly, you matter, and so do your dreams,” she said.

She further emphasized Heritage Energy’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, stating, “We are dedicated to breaking barriers and providing equal opportunities to ensure a level playing field for all.”

Reflecting on the initiative, Sola Adebawo, General Manager of Government, Joint Venture, and External Relations at HEOSL, expressed pride in the company’s role in the program. “At Heritage Energy, we are happy to partner with WIEN in empowering these young girls and shaping future leaders. Our participation reaffirms our commitment to mentorship, diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

The participating schoolgirls expressed their gratitude, describing the experience as motivating and life-changing, as they had the rare opportunity to learn from and interact with women who have excelled in their respective careers.

This initiative marks another significant step in Heritage Energy’s and WIEN’s shared mission to foster gender inclusivity and empower the next generation of female leaders.
