Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum scheduled to address ‘The Petroleum Club.’
Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Heineken Lokpobiri, is set to grace the second quarterly dinner lecture of the Petroleum Club of Lagos for 2024 as the special guest of honor. The Minister of State for Petroleum will address the audience on the theme of “Policy design and implementation to tackle the challenges of lower for longer crude oil output.”
The Petroleum Club, a prestigious private club fostering interaction among industry leaders and technical experts, has enlisted Mr. Komolafe to deliver the opening dinner lecture. The event, slated for Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Metropolitan Club in Lagos, promises “a special interactive evening with the Minister,” according to Austin Avuru, Chairman of the Petroleum Club. Avuru expressed anticipation for a vibrant engagement with stakeholders across the industry.
Quarterly dinners hosted by the Petroleum Club routinely feature government and public leaders of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon sector engaging in open, informal discussions with prominent private sector figures. In previous gatherings, notable speakers have included Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and Olu A. Verheijen, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Energy.
Minister Lokpobiri, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, serves alongside Ekperipe Ekpo as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas). Despite the optimistic outlook conveyed by both ministers, the industry has persisted on a trajectory of declining hydrocarbon output.
