Grimaldi Group Launches First-Ever Direct Shipping Service Between China and Nigeria.

The Grimaldi Group, a global leader in maritime transportation, has unveiled a groundbreaking direct shipping service connecting Shanghai, China, to Lagos, Nigeria. The innovative service eliminates the need for transshipments, promising unmatched speed and efficiency for cargo movement.

The announcement was made on Monday by Ascanio Russo, Managing Director of Grimaldi Agency Nigeria and PTML Terminal, who highlighted the transformative potential of the service.

“This is the fastest transit time in the industry. No transshipment, no delays,” Russo said. “Nigerian importers can now ship their goods with ease and confidence, knowing their cargo will arrive directly and on time.”

The new route boasts an impressive transit time of just 27 days, setting a new industry benchmark. It is designed to handle various types of cargo, including containers, cars, vans, trucks, heavy equipment, general cargo, and project cargo. The service also offers competitive freight rates, making it a cost-effective solution for businesses.

“This direct route reduces costs, eliminates risks, and simplifies logistics for businesses in Nigeria. It is a game-changer for trade between China and Nigeria,” Russo added.

Enhanced Service at PTML Terminal

Grimaldi’s PTML Terminal at Tin Can Island Port will serve as the operational hub for the new shipping route. Russo emphasized the terminal’s streamlined handling processes, priority cargo processing, and premium service levels, describing it as the preferred logistics hub in West Africa.

“We are offering an unparalleled level of service through our PTML Terminal,” Russo stated.

State-of-the-Art Vessel Debut

The service was inaugurated with the maiden voyage of the Great Cotonou, a state-of-the-art G5-class ro-ro multipurpose vessel. The ship, part of Grimaldi’s advanced fleet, features cutting-edge technology for efficient cargo handling and reduced environmental impact.

“This new service is a testament to Grimaldi’s commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and the development of the Nigerian maritime sector,” Russo said.
